Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Learning Intent:

Every child has the right to relax, play and experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development; spending time outdoors is as important for children’s development as learning to read and write. We need to encourage children to explore the world outside of the classroom and make connections with all aspects of their learning. They should be inspired to ask and answer questions of both the built and natural world and reach their own conclusions. In this vastly evolving world, we must instil a deep care and respect for our world and all things in it, allowing them to be inspired and motivated by the wonder that surrounds us. Our school’s values and vision underpin our belief that learning outside the classroom often provides the most memorable learning experiences, providing children with greater independence and physical competence. Through exposure to managed risk, we hope to produce happy, confident pupils who are ready to accept new challenges, nurture a lifelong love of learning and develop into conscientious, caring adults that take simple pleasures in the wonders of nature around them.
